Connecting Rod Lock Knowledge:Application and Selection

I. Application Scenarios for Connecting Rod Locks

Connecting rod locks generally work in conjunction with upper and lower connecting rods, suitable for larger equipment doors and cabinet doors. They lock more tightly and make door opening and closing more effortless.

II. Features of Connecting Rod Locks

1. More secure and aesthetically pleasing locking:

The upper and lower locking rods work with the latch to provide three points of force when the door is locked, ensuring a reliable locking effect. The door panel is less likely to wobble or become deformed due to height, leading to uneven ends.

2. More convenient and effort-saving use:

A single door only requires one connecting rod lock. By turning the handle on the lock body, the door can be easily opened and closed without the hassle of installing multiple small locks on a single door.

3. Customizable connecting rod lengths for doors of different heights:

Standard lengths for connecting rods include 500mm, 1000mm, etc., and we also support customization of various lengths between 100-1000mm.

4. A variety of connecting rods to suit different usage scenarios:

Multiple materials are available, including round connecting rods, flat connecting rods, and connecting rods with rollers, to meet the needs of different scenarios.

III. Components of Connecting Rod Locks

The connecting rod lock mainly consists of three parts: the lock body, the connecting rod, and the guide. Customers can order the entire set or just the lock body when placing an order.

IV. Types of Connecting Rods

There are two types of connecting rods: round and flat, with materials available in carbon steel and stainless steel.

Round Connecting Rods

a. Round Connecting Rods (XAV46/51/52) - Simple structure, low cost for custom length, and fast delivery.

Connecting Rods with Rollers

b. Connecting Rods with Rollers (XAV61/62)

Connecting Rods with Rollers

b. Connecting Rods with Rollers (XAV53)

 Equipped with rollers at the head, which roll when locking, making it more effort-saving.

 Flat Connecting Rods

c. Flat Connecting Rods (XAV56) - Optional stop height, with rollers, easy to install and remove.

V. Installation Steps for Connecting Rod Locks

1. Unscrew the screws fixing the lock shell panel and remove the panel.

2. Place the lock shell panel on the outside of the door panel and the transmission mechanism on the inside of the door panel.

3. Tighten the screws to fix the lock shell panel and the transmission mechanism to the door panel.

4. Secure the guide, pass the connecting rod through the guide, and use screws to connect and fix the connecting rod with the flat transmission bar. The installation is complete.

Installation Steps for Connecting Rod Locks

VI. Steps for Opening and Closing the Door with Connecting Rod Locks

1. After unlocking with a key, turn the handle, and the lock body linkage (upper and lower connecting rods and latch) moves with the handle (the latch rotates to a vertical state, the upper connecting rod moves down, the lower connecting rod moves up, and all three locking points are released, the equipment door is in an open state, and the door is pulled open by the handle).

2. Close the door tightly, turn the handle, and the lock body linkage (upper and lower connecting rods and latch) moves with the handle (the latch rotates to a horizontal state, the upper connecting rod moves up, the lower connecting rod moves down, and all three locking points are locked, the equipment door is in a locked state).

VII. Method for Swapping Left and Right Opening of Connecting Rod Locks

1. Remove the screws from the connecting rod box on the back of the lock body.

2. Remove the latch and the insert block below the latch, and open the connecting rod box.

3. Rotate the latch module with the flat rod by 180 degrees.

4. Install the insert block and latch, adjust the direction of the latch according to the usage requirements, and install the screws to fix the latch module with the flat rod. The installation is complete.

VIII. Calculation of Connecting Rod Length

When calculating the length of the connecting rod, pay attention to: 1. The position of the opening; 2. The specific lock model; 3. The three-point latch matched. Only with this information can the length of the connecting rod be calculated.

Calculation of Connecting Rod Length

1. When the door panel center coincides with the centerline of the opening:

Note:

A: The distance from the connecting rod installation hole to the rotation centerline.

B: The distance from the connecting rod installation hole to the rotation centerline.

C: The distance from the rotation centerline to the lock body opening centerline.

D: The distance from the connecting rod installation hole to the lock body opening centerline.

The formula for calculating the length of the connecting rod based on the door height is as follows:

When the door panel center coincides with the lock body opening centerline: L1 = X/2 - D + (Dm - 2), L2 = X/2 - (A - C) + (Dm - 2).

Example: It is known that the door panel center coincides with the lock body opening centerline, the door height is X = 2000mm, the extension stroke of the connecting rod is D = 15mm, the connecting rod lock is matched with a three-point latch (as shown in the figure), the latch center distance (i.e., the distance from the connecting rod installation hole to the rotation centerline) A = 20mm, B = 20mm; L1 is the distance from the connecting rod installation hole to the lock body centerline D = 57.5mm, the distance from the rotation centerline to the lock body opening centerline C = 37.5mm; calculate the lengths of L1 and L2 connecting rods?

Answer: L1 = X/2 - D + (Dm - 2); that is, L1 = 2000 ÷ 2 - 57.5 + (15 - 2) = 955.5mm;

L2 = X/2 - (A - C) + (Dm - 2); that is, L2 = 2000 ÷ 2 - (20 - 37.5) + (15 - 2) = 1030.5mm;

In summary: L1 = 955.5mm; L2 = 1030.5mm.

Note:
A: Distance from the connecting rod mounting hole to the rotation centerline
B: Distance from the connecting rod mounting hole to the rotation centerline
C: Distance from the rotation centerline to the lock body opening centerline D: Distance from the connecting rod mounting hole to the lock body opening centerline
The formula for calculating the connecting rod length based on the door interior height is as follows:
The center of the door panel coincides with the centerline of the lock body opening: L1=X/2-D+(Dm-2), L2=X/2-(A-C)+(Dm-2);
Example: It is known that the center of the door panel coincides with the centerline of the lock body opening, the door interior height is X=2000mm, the telescopic stroke of the connecting rod is D =15mm, the connecting rod lock is equipped with a transmission mechanism (as shown in the figure), the distance from the connecting rod mounting hole to the rotation centerline is A=180mm, B=122mm; L1 The distance from the connecting rod mounting hole to the lock body centerline is D=164mm, and the distance from the rotation centerline to the lock body opening centerline is C=42mm; calculate L1 and L2 Connecting rod length?
Answer: L1=X/2-D+(Dm-2); i.e. L1=2000÷2-164+(15-2)=849mm;
L2=X/2-(A-C)+(Dm-2); i.e. L2=2000÷2-(180-42)+(15-2)=875mm;
To sum up: L1=849mm; L2=875mm

L2 = X/2 - A + (Dm - 2); that is, L2 = 2000 ÷ 2 - 20 + (15 - 2) = 993mm;

In summary: L1 = 993mm; L2 = 993mm.
