How to Solve the Problem of Residual Gases on Aluminum Profile Surfaces?

Nov 27, 2024

When the aluminum profile extruder is pressurized, gas will remain in the aluminum profile, causing bubbles to form inside and on the surface of the aluminum profile, causing problems that cannot be completely eliminated and turning the aluminum profile into a waste product. In order to prevent gas from entering the aluminum profile, the source of the gas needs to be identified. The following are the main factors causing residual gas in the four extruded aluminum profiles:

1. Gas residue caused by hot shearing of long rods

The cutting surface produced when the rod is thermally cut is not absolutely perfect and vertical. Simple hot cutting of long rods on aluminum profiles will cause severe bending of the columns and rods, causing the aluminum profiles to have an oval cross-section and create a large rounded corner. Even with the latest long rod hot shearing, the edges of the cut rods will be rounded, and this rounding is where gas is trapped.

Treatment method: Carry out standardized testing of aluminum plates and strictly guard against aluminum rods that fail to pass the standards.

2. Upsetting causes gas residues

When the diameter of the cylinder containing aluminum ingots exceeds the diameter of the column rod, the column rod can be placed into the cylinder containing aluminum ingots. Apply pressure to the column rod in the cylinder containing the aluminum ingot to expand the column rod to the diameter of the cylinder containing the ingot, and be sure to discharge the gas. If the gas is not discharged, it will remain in the aluminum ingot and eventually turn into bubbles.

Treatment method: The extrusion gasket must be equipped according to the minimum lining size of the extrusion cylinder, and the extrusion cylinder must be replaced regularly. The extrusion cylinder and extrusion pad must be inspected for corrosion and cleaning, and the extrusion cylinder and extrusion pad must be accurately measured. The pressure pad is equipped with an appropriate extrusion gasket according to the outer diameter size; the extrusion cylinder is cleaned with a cleaning gasket once every shift, and the extrusion cylinder is regularly eroded and cleaned.

3. The connection of two aluminum rods causes gas residue

Because the surfaces of the two rods are basically flat, there is little possibility of gas being brought in. Therefore, the quality of sawing directly affects the amount of gas carried between the two short rods. Nowadays, there is a high-tech technology that can avoid the possibility of gas entering when two column rods are connected.

Processing method: Confirm the aluminum rod with the appropriate rod length based on the unit weight of the profile, the number of discharged pieces and other data.

4. Gas residue caused by extruded aluminum profiles

When extruding aluminum profiles, it is necessary to prevent the entry of gas to prevent gas residues from occurring, which may cause various problems in post-processing.

1. Improper oiling causes bubbles in the product

Treatment method: Choose appropriate smearing methods, reduce the amount of oil smearing, and enhance employees’ pre-job skills and technology learning and training.

2. The pressure residue is too thin, and the metal of the shunt hole is pulled out during the cutting process, thus leaving a gap in the mold in the shunt hole.

Processing method: According to the tonnage of the extruder, leave a reasonable residual thickness, and determine the aluminum rod with effective rod length based on the unit weight of the aluminum profile, the number of discharged pieces and other technical parameters.

3. In the flat mold welding room, the shunt hole of the shunt mold is too large, causing bubbles to flow into the mold cavity.

Treatment method: Reduce the size of the flat die welding chamber, reduce the die hole of the shunt die, and keep the distance from one side of the extrusion barrel to more than 5MM.

Conclusion

The residual gas in the pressurization process of the aluminum profile extruder causes bubbles to be generated inside and on the surface of the aluminum profile, causing problems that cannot be completely eliminated and turning the aluminum profile into a waste product. Through the analysis and comparison of traditional and improved aluminum bar forging, extrusion and die design and manufacturing, it can be seen that in order to improve the production efficiency of extruded profiles, enhance the control of extrusion surface requirements, and solve the problem of extrusion The problem of bubbles produced in the production of aluminum profiles is very important and critical.
