Single-axis robots and multi-axis robots are both linear motion accessories. From the appearance point of view, the structure of multi-axis robots is more complex, and the number of axes is generally more than two axes. Multi-axis robots are not limited to linear motion. They can complete complex actions such as grabbing and handling by setting the machine program in advance. Of course, the range of multi-axis robots that can complete these complex actions is limited because the mounting base limits the spatial range of the multi-axis robot's movement.
Although there are restrictions on the installation base, the freedom of movement of multi-axis robots is much better than that of single-axis robots. Within the motion space of a multi-axis robot, almost all special angle and trajectory operations can be achieved through programming. The range of motion of a single-axis robot is relatively single. Still, when a single-axis robot is used alone, it can generally only achieve grabbing operations on fixed routes for workpieces at fixed positions.

3. The Difference Between Single Axis Robots and Multi Axis Robots
1) The mechanical structure of the single-axis robot itself is relatively simple. Its main body is generally composed of aluminum profile materials, and linear guides, screw rods and other transmission accessories are installed inside. This structure also limits the single-axis robot to complete simple point-to-point linear motion in the unassembled state. Multi-axis robots can achieve multi-angle and multi-trajectory grabbing operations.
2) Single-axis robots do not have complex component structures, so their detection and maintenance methods are relatively simple. They only need to be lubricated with lubricating oil regularly. However, the internal structure of a multi-axis robot is relatively complex. Therefore, after a period of use, the overall working performance of the multi-axis robot needs to be comprehensively checked, and some problematic parts must be replaced in time to avoid affecting the normal work of the multi-axis robot.
3) The single-axis robot is linear in shape, and its operation methods and processes are relatively simple. Moreover, compared with multi-axis robots, single-axis robots are cheaper and are more cost-effective products.
All in all, single-axis and multi-axis robots have advantages and disadvantages, and users still need to choose a more suitable product based on their actual needs.
